ESPN's Gameday came to Blacksburg as one of its first on-site destinations?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that ESPN's GameDay came to Blacksburg until the 1999 game against Syracuse (I was there, and it was a really big deal then). There were approximately 50 other campus visits that happened before that one. Is it really accurate to say it was one of ESPN's first on-site destinations?
