ECU could have called Wit on Tuesday and said they were not coming. Let him get upset in private and both release a statement that the game is off.

Instead, Wit was publicly stating that the decision would be made on Wednesday. Nobody had informed him that ECU had no intention of coming. They had already sent their equipment out of town apparently and they had not informed VT.

All of this could have been behind closed doors, even on a Tuesday cancellation, if ECU had informed VT first.

It is equivalent of finding out on the news your coach took another job.
