Great analogy, though it doesn't support your position...

The game isn’t happening. I’m over that.
But the answer to your question is that on several occasions (at least a dozen), my company’s headquarters have been located in an area where the governor has declared a state of emergency. In such cases, I send employees out early to customer locations where we have contractual commitments (assuming that they are outside of the emergency area) and I also go early myself when needed. So, in a similar situation, I’d have send employees from Greenville to SW VA, but not from SW VA to Greenville.
I’ve said this before, but I wish ECU had just said it is inappropriate to play a game while their community is dealing with this devastating storm. I’d support that argument. But – in my opinion (and clearly not yours) – the “safety” argument is bogus.
And I don’t think Whit put his foot in mouth. I wish he hadn’t said anything at all, but all he did is express mild frustration about an away team unilaterally cancelling a game when it is the home team’s sole prerogative to do so.
Just giving a perspective. Not trying to make anyone angry. I respect that not all will agree with my viewpoint, and I wish the best to everyone in the path of this devastating storm.
