Maybe it was the first of many major steps forward (beating UNC) before they will have a team that could challenge VT again.

I like ECU, and was shocked when they came unraveled the last two seasons. Their coach is in his third season, too, IIRC. The thing about college football that I enjoy is that any number of teams can surprise in any given season. I don't think ECU is ready to surprise, but they may be ready to work their way out of the basement.
