How do you figure?

In that situation it made sense to run a play to the wide side of the field (which was the right side) because that gives Peoples the most room to try to score a TD. If you call a play where Peoples is only running between the hashes, then it is a "give up play" because he will most likely be stopped somewhere between the 5-10 yd line. If you ran the ball to the short side of the field (left side), then it is another "give up play" because he will be stopped somewhere between the 5-10 yard line. Maybe closer to the 10 yd line because there is less room to make cuts. The defense was expecting a pass on 3rd Down, so that would make it the most risky play to call in that situation. If Peoples was told to only cutback towards the middle of the field or only run between the hashes, then it is unlikely he would have gained 10 yds on that run. Essentially making it another "give up play."

What scenario out there would have given VT the best chance to surprise the defense, increase the odds of scoring a TD on 3rd and Goal from FSU 11 yd line (I think left hash), and keep the ball in between the hashes if tackled at the 1 yd line? The way I see it there aren't too many options out there.
