Durkin learned under Jim Harbaugh and Urban Meyer.

And your comment about Wallace Loh is correct as well. He blew up 50+ years of tradition and left the perfect home for Maryland, the ACC, for money. He made his choice, one which I understand, but he does have to reap what he sows.
