No, he did apologize for mishandling the questions

He was very possibly taken off-guard, and not knowing the directions the questions were going, he made some false statements. I know we all hold everyone except ourselves to a standard of perfect honestly and holiness at all times, but we also know few of us are any better. We deflect when caught off guard. We of course, don't have to worry about someone calling our friend's ex-wife to check our statements.

So he's had a couple days to collect his thoughts, recount the incident, and he maintains that he DID report it. Well, that's easy enough to verify is it not?

The hysteria involved with this story is over the top. People have a bloodlust when a powerful person makes a mis-step. They must be destroyed. Its like sharks devouring another that has suffered an injury.

The worst thing this man could have done from what's been reported so far, was fail to comply with a Title IX regulation requiring reporting of domestic violence incidents involving staff. That's not a moral thing, that's a technical thing. Nothing he did promoted, enabled, or condoned domestic violence. Certainly his crime could be.not firing someone soon enough. That would have no bearing on the beatings suffered by Courtney Smith.but it could have put her at a financial disadvantage to not be able to collect damages from her husbandwho would then be unemployed. We know that idea was put to Courtney Smith when approached about not pressing charges. There's two sides to every story. Sometimes people are put in a catch-22.

If this happened outside of the Title IX umbrella, this is a private matter between a man and his wife, and law enforcement. The man's boss, and company would have nothing to do with it. If I'm arrested, my company may find out and can me. If not, they aren't going to go interview my wife.

Now, however, enter the powerful attorneys, who will inevitably go head-hunting for the giant pay day.

But I ask. Where's the victim here? Courtney Smith suffered at the hands of Zach Smith, not Urban Meyer. So why the moral indignation and outrage? What are people screaming about the unemployment date of Zach Smith? That's ultimately what we're crying about.

Everyone needs to relax.
