Spot on. In addition, I think Beamer didn't understand either

Not that it's his job to sell tickets to the games, but...

For me personally, my attendance started declining towards the end of the 10 win seasons. During the glory years, the prices were increasing annually. It became harder and harder for me to spend my discretionary income on football. I was a season ticket holder and it was easily costing me $500 to $1000 per weekend to travel to Blacksburg for the games.

Where I place some blame on Beamer was with the coaching. Early on I felt like Tech was going to always give their best and I never left the stadium disappointed in a loss when I knew we scrapped until the end. Towards the end of the 10 win per season era, I felt like I was starting to see games where the team was giving up. Fortunately, our defense always kept us in those games. When we finally got some young defenses and needed to rely on our offense to save us, the 10 win seasons were over. Fast forward to the last few years of the Beamer era, and it started to get bad. It hurt bad to know we COULD have won a game, but just gave it away. It became really hard to shell out hard earned money to go to Blacksburg only to leave the stadium disappointed. I finally made the decision that I'd rather stay home where I could turn off the tv and go about my day rather than spend 5 hours on the road wondering why once again I shelled out hard earned money to support a team that I felt had given up.
