Something simple, along the lines of "we are actively working to fill both the vacancies on our MBB coaching staff and our 2019 recruiting class. Coach Williams and I remain committed to delivering a top flight basketball program here at Virginia Tech".

Even if Buzz plans to bolt AFTER the season, there's no reason not to try a little damage control now to prevent the perception of the program from spiraling downward before what could have/should have/maybe still will be the most promising year of Buzz's tenure.

This whole situation feels a lot like the end of the Greenberg era. It also probably has a strong sense of deja vu for Marquette fans.
