If TAMU has Buzz locked up with a handshake agreement...
...why not make a move back in April? Obviously they can't fire an ailing Kennedy, but surely he would step aside once told a replacement had been lined up (and TAMU would pay out his remaining contract as a courtesy anyway).
As it stands, Whit is stuck paying $3mil+ for a coach that isn't doing most of his job responsibilities. If I'm Whit, I'm looking for a legal way to fire Buzz WITH CAUSE, for effectively moonlighting for a rival program. I know my employer would be within their rights to fire me if they knew I had already lined up a gig with a competitor, and was steering clients (recruits) toward that competitor while still drawing a salary from them. This whole deal has the same stench as the Tom Brands fiasco.
I don't see a way Buzz can pull this off without 1. completely losing his team this season and 2. ruining his reputation for 'integrity' in the process. This is a true test for Whit; I doubt he will take kindly to being cuckolded by a guy he bent over backwards to empower and enrich.
