and Virginia Tech's first bowl win. Dooley made some progress for the program. So it's not really true there wasn't any success or recruiting before Beamer.

Yes, Beamer started with some reduced scholarships and had some challenges for sure. He rebuilt the program the right way, and did a great job of it. But there was forward progress before as well.
