This is patently false, but you have to credit PSU public affairs...
PSU football honored Paterno as recently as 2016 before a game versus Temple. Jay Paterno is on the PSU board of trustees.
So yes, the statue is gone. Unfortunately they're still honoring the dead disgraced guy and giving at least one of his sons a nepotism appointment at the university.
If I were a PSU alum I would have concerns about the same culture surviving the scandal...but most of them just want to win football games, I suppose.
