Competition and shooting

One would think, Gate City, Southwestern Virginia, and then"no way the schedule could be that tough." That's usually true, but Gate City played a schedule this year that featured 3 teams that at some point in the season, were ranked in the MaxPreps top 200, and 2 of those 3 were ranked in the top 100 at one point in the season. Gate City went 2 and 1 against them, and McClung averaged over 35 points in those 3 games. I read by a GC poster a while back that McClung shot 40% this year from the three point line. Fact is.at least for 2017-18 season, when GC played not just good, but nationally recognized competition, the kid still went off and simply wasn't guardable. 40% from three point range also explains itself. I love Buzz and our staff and respect them, and if they feel he simply isn't good enough to play at Tech, then it is what it is and I accept that, but..by the numbers, there's just not good evidence to suggest he can't play against solid competition or doesn't shoot well. The data says otherwise, but Buzz has forgotten 1 million fold about what I know about Hoops, so I'm sure the decision was based on tons of factors to evaluate a player and make a decision. I respect that decision also.
