Here's the thing. At the end of the day, UVA's scheme is a gimmick.
They're a great team and give everyone fits trying to figure out what they do. But, when it's all said and done, the Pack Line defense is a gimmick. It's kinda like GT in football, running the triple option: with a short time to prepare for it in the regular season, it's almost impossible to defeat. In the postseason, however, with enough time to prepare for it, almost any team can beat it.
Coach Odom at UMBC is no dummy. He clearly had has guys ready to attack the weakness in the the Pack Line and, fortunately for him, his Retrievers just shot the lights out.
