It's a canard


Title IX is about participation, not compensation.

Colleges could pay revenue generating athletes (overwhelmingly male) more than non-revs for the same reasons they can pay football and men's hoop coaches far more than the women's water polo coach.

The only way Title IX causes a problem is if a school starts cutting entire women's teams to help pay for the football squad.
