Hokies beat Western Carolina

Virginia Tech cruised to a 79-61 win over Western Carolina on Friday night.  The Hokies are now 2-1 on the season.  The Catamounts dropped to 2-2.

Virginia Tech’s freshmen once again led the charge…

G Ben Emelogu: 16 points, 3 rebounds, 27 minutes
G Devin Wilson: 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 35 minutes
F Trevor Thompson: 15 points, 11 rebounds, 21 minutes

Thompson recorded the first double-double of his career, and the first double-double of the season for any Tech player.

Senior forward Jarell Eddie paced the Virginia Tech attack with 17 points and six rebounds.

The Hokies shot 48.1% from the field, while limiting the Catamounts to 32.8%.  Western Carolina played in Blacksburg on Friday night after playing at Oregon on Wednesday.

Tech also outrebounded 46-32, and they also pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.  They had 34 points in the paint and 15 second chance points.

The Hokies have a quick turnaround when they host VMI on Monday night.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7pm, and the game can be seen online on ESPN3.
