Virginia Tech’s game on November 9 against Miami is scheduled for a 7pm kickoff, and it will be televised by ESPN.
Miami suffered a 41-14 defeat at the hands of FSU on Saturday night, their first loss of the season. All-ACC tailback Duke Johnson was lost for the season with a broken ankle in that game. The ‘Canes are now 7-1 overall, with a 3-1 ACC record. Tech is 6-3, and 3-2 in the ACC.
The ACC Coastal Division race looks like this…
Miami: 7-1, 3-1
GT: 6-3, 5-2
VT: 6-3, 3-2
Duke: 6-2, 2-2
Despite their 5-2 record in the ACC, Georgia Tech has lost head-to-head matchups against Miami and Virginia Tech. Duke holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Hokies, but lost head-to-head against Georgia Tech. The Blue Devils will host Miami on November 16. Georgia Tech has one ACC game remaining at Clemson.
The Coastal Division is still wide open, though Miami and Virginia Tech still likely hold the edge. The league could be decided by next weekend’s game.
Scary thought – Duke wins out (could happen with Miami without Duke Johnson). They would then match up in the ACCCG against FSU. Wouldn’t THAT be a great statement for the ACC – to send Duke to their championship game. Ugh.
Night game, great! My thoughts are with Duke Johnson. Hate to see any player get hurt!
Awww geez, we finally get a night game now? At Miami in the middle of an Offensive Landfill Fire (we’ve upgraded from the dumpster)?
Well…. it’s not THAT bad. We’re generating yards, getting first downs, and burning clock. If we would just stop turning it over every other drive we’d be kicking arse and taking names!
No turnovers in Miami!
Go Hokies!
