With the fall semester come and gone, the fall standings of the Learfield Director’s Cup are out and Virginia Tech is just outside the top 25. The Hokies placed 26th overall, good enough for ninth in the ACC.
Here are all of the ACC teams and where they finished in the fall standings.
7. NC State – 303.5 points
11. Duke – 262
12. Virginia – 250.50
15. North Carolina – 230
17. Wake Forest – 221
20. Notre Dame – 205
21. Louisville – 204
23. Florida State – 195.5
26. Virginia Tech – 181
28. Clemson – 180
31. Syracuse – 164
57. Miami – 113
92. Pittsburgh – 78
152. Georgia Tech – 28
155. Boston College – 25
Virginia Tech scored points in the following four sports…
Women’s Cross Country – 28 points
Men’s Cross Country – 54
FBS Football – 49
Men’s Soccer – 50
In fall 2016, Virginia Tech was 49th in the Director’s Cup standings, and finished the year 40th overall. Virginia Tech’s 26th-place finish in this year’s fall standings is their best performance in the fall since 2014-2015, when the Hokies finished 27th. Tech went on to finish 35th overall for that academic year.
Great progress by VT athletics.
I’m surprised to see NC State so high in the standings.
At #26, best fall finish since they finished #27???? Care to revisit the subject?
