Virginia Tech and Megan Duffy picked up their third commitment in three days Wednesday afternoon in Ramiya White, a 6-foot-5 center in the class of 2024.

The Louisville, Ky., native is the fourth addition for the Hokies since Duffy was appointed on April 5. She joins Utah guard Lani White and other high school recruits Myah Hazleton (6-4), Leila Wells (5-9) and Kayl Petersen (6-0).

White was previously a Kentucky signee but reopened her recruitment when Kenny Brooks took over in Lexington. The No. 1 center and No. 3 overall player in the 2024 class in the Bluegrass State, according to Prep Girls Hoops, she had a preexisting relationship with Tech assistant Jen Hoover, who was previously with the Wildcats.

As a senior at Butler Traditional High School, she averaged 11.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting 56 percent and helping her team to the semifinals of the state tournament. She was an All-Region First Team performer as a junior while averaging 8.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

“She is a force to be reckoned with on the boards, which is a huge asset for our program, while she also is a solid shot blocker,” former Kentucky head coach Kyra Elzy said of White when she signed in November. “For a post player, she can run the floor well while her mobility is impressive for her length and size. Off the court, White is an impressive young lady who will bring a drive and a focus to our locker room.”

She had offers from Clemson, Florida State, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Syracuse, among others.

White’s commitment gives the Hokies 11 scholarship players for the 2024-25 season and leaves four open spots. Here’s a breakdown:

  1. DC – I think you can update Ekh’s height in your table to 6’2″ since it’s been so widely reported already.

  2. Congratulations to all the new recruits and returning players. Looks like coach Duffy is assembling an excellent coaching staff and a good squad of players. Looking forward to this inaugural season of Coach Duffy and lady Hokies!

  3. I second that emotion. Congrats to coach Duffy. Great start for length of time at VT. Looks promising going forward. Go Hokies

  4. Great addition. Next year is gonna be a great year. Future looks bright as well. Go Hokies!!!

    1. Think it will be a good year with what we have, but I believe we are presently too young for a great year.

  5. Brooks had Strack and the girl from Portugal that he brought with him., they were his recruits.

This lady seems to be a really good prospect

Glad we have some more height

    Let’s go Hokies

  6. we’ll play with (what’s left of) ours, plus one of yours, our Portal-Ins, and our recruits.
you play with who used to be ours, our former recruits, whoever didn’t transfer out,
and anyone else you can afford.
    or
    something like that

good pick-up in height we need at center; can Liz, please tutor her?
another center (via portal with experience preferred) is still needed.

    Go Lady Hokies!

    1. Coach Hoover is a former post player who played at WF where she scored over 1,700 points and 1,000 rebounds! She is known for developing post players!

  7. Is there a reason (some sort of compliance thing) why the article headline picture is of coach and not the recruit?

  8. This team is really young on paper. Interested to see how Coach finishes off the roster.

      1. Correct. Because of Title IX, women get 15 scholarships, men have 13.

  9. Things are shaping up for VT WBB team Coach Duffy and staff are working hard. I’m pleased

  10. Coach brining in some solid players and it’s great to get a big, and it’s a bonus she de-committed from Kentucky!!!

      1. I would love to read the book on what really went on even if it’s ten years from now. I’m guessing he did not. Figure that nine players left KY and a couple commits including White. KB said he was going to talk to all the current players, so that either worked really well for him or didn’t work well at all. I’d love to know.

        1. KB yesterday’s NEWS. Forget about him. The new Coach is world class.

      2. Cheesehokie, I couldn’t care less if Brooks wanted her or not- either way it’s great to get a UK recruit. He is past tense in my book. Congrats to Duffy and Co.- they are off to a great start!
