Brett Clatterbaugh Commits To Virginia Tech

Brett Clatterbaugh
Linebacker, Class of 2025
Eastern View, Culpeper, VA
6-2, 235

Virginia Tech picked up a big commitment on Saturday from Eastern View (Culpeper, VA) linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh, who immediately becomes one of the top verbals of the Pry era in Blacksburg. He is the fifth commitment of the 2025 recruiting class, and the fourth from Virginia.

Clatterbaugh is ranked as a 4-star prospect by three of four recruiting services, and ranks as high as No. 5 in the state by Rivals.com. ESPN ranks him as the No. 267 overall recruit in the country. He lists himself at 6-2, 235, and he chose the Hokies over an offer list that includes Georgia, Clemson, Notre Dame, Louisville, Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and many others.

Just before Christmas, Clatterbaugh named a top five of the Hokies, Georgia, Penn State, Clemson and Notre Dame, and ultimately selected the in-state school.

Clatterbaugh plays defensive end for Eastern View, though he is listed as a linebacker by all of the recruiting services. He has been heavily pursued by the current Virginia Tech’s staff since early 2022, and his recruitment was actually begun by the old Tech staff in 2021. He also wrestles, and he is a three-time state champion.

  1. Fantastic! Great to see kids with an offer list like that choosing VT! One can only hope he’s similar to Gabe Williams in terms of recruiting his peers!
