Nick Gallo will return to Virginia Tech for the 2024 season. (Jon Fleming)

Virginia Tech received some good news on the first day of 2024 when senior Nick Gallo announced his return to Blacksburg for his final season of eligibility. Gallo missed the 2023 season with a torn ACL, which he suffered in a preseason scrimmage, and was granted a medical hardship.

Gallo has 55 receptions for 469 yards and a touchdown during his career with the Hokies. He has played 1,786 snaps since he began his career in 2019 and will provide another veteran presence for a Tech squad that returns nearly all of its key contributors in 2024.

He will be the veteran in a tight end room that includes redshirt sophomores Benji Gosnell and Harrison Saint Germain, as well as redshirt freshman Zeke Wimbush. Gosnell and Saint Germain caught touchdown passes in Virginia Tech’s victory over Tulane in the Military Bowl.

  1. Coaching career possible? Heard that may be an interest

Great to have him back next year no matter the driving reason(s).

  2. He will continue to be teaching the youngsters while being a great leader and presence on and off the field.

  3. The ’24 O is really going to be solid. Heaven help the ’25 team. Just think what it will lose.

    1. Some of the portal guys have two years left and hopefully the highly regarded recruits behind them will develop. Raising the bar, VT coming back.

    2. College athletics is a revolving door by definition. And door is even bigger now with the portal. 2025 is a LONG way off; I wouldn’t worry too much about the ‘25 roster on 1/1/24.

    1. We got a good guard- just need a tackle imo. It’s a good problem to have that kids r not running for the portal like at most schools

  4. Leadership. Nick is exactly what this team needs, not that they don’t have enough leaders already, but 1 more is ideal.

  5. Alright Nick! Been hoping you could give it another go – Good Luck to you and hope the season is a great one for you!
    Go Hokies!
