Virginia Tech’s interior defensive line got a boost Tuesday when tackle Josh Fuga announced he will return for a sixth season with the Hokies.

A team captain in 2023, Fuga finished with 13 tackles in 12 games, with 1.5 tackles for a loss and a half sack, often serving as an emotional catalyst on the defense.

Though his stats aren’t overwhelming, his return is a welcome one for the Hokies, who are losing Norell Pollard, Mario Kendricks and Pheldarius Payne on the interior of the defensive line. All three exhausted their eligibility this fall. Tech is expected to be active in the transfer market this offseason.

A Woodbridge, Va., native, Fuga’s played 47 games in his college career, starting 12. He has 56 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks.

  1. Glad to have Fuga back. Love the loyalty and I hope players like him get many NIL opportunities. He and APR are a good start for a D-Line.
