Tech Sideline was launched on March 12, 1996 by 1987 Tech graduate (BSEE) Will Stewart as a small, personal web page. In 1997, the site evolved into HokieCentral.com, and in August of 1999, joined the SportsWar network of college sports web sites. In November of 2000, the site changed names to TechSideline.com, or TSL. Over the years, TSL has grown into what you see before you: a full-time Virginia Tech sports media company, complete with web site, podcast, YouTube channel, and large and active social media presences.

  1. Pheldarius Payne would be the perfect guy to revise the crowd loving Arm Wind Up, former VT great, Padro Phillips, used to pump himself up pre-snap on big plays. Pheldarius Payne even has the same initials as Padro Phillips & both are from the 757 so the ODU game could be a fun place to bring it back. Especially, if VT could get Padro Phillips on the sideline. Padro in my recollection was the best crowd motivator VT ever had because Padro didn’t over use it & it seemed he was mostly motivating himself or his team & quite often the Defense came through w/a big stop. It helped that Padro played 3 of his years w/VT’s legendary Bruce Smith. It would be nice to see both of those former greats on the sideline while Payne gets his first sack after winding his arm!

  3. A more appropriate first name would be Inflictatha… his mom really missed an opportunity there.
