Eric Mensah
Defensive Tackle, Class of 2024
Mountain View, Stafford, VA
6-3, 290
Virginia Tech picked up a big commitment on Monday afternoon when Mountain View (Stafford, VA) defensive tackle Eric Mensah made his pledge. He is the 16th commitment of the 2024 recruiting class and the third defensive tackle, which means the Hokies are likely finished recruiting that position for the cycle. He’s also the sixth prospect in the class from the Commonwealth of Virginia to choose Tech.
Mensah joins Emmett Laws and Andrew Hanchuk as Tech’s defensive tackle commits for 2024. Overall, 10 of the 16 verbals are projected to play on the defensive side of the ball.
Mensah’s in-state rankings range from No. 8 in the state (ESPN) to No. 24 (Rivals). His weight is listed between 265 and 290, though judging from his most recent pictures, he’s a lot closer to the 290 range, which makes him a candidate to contribute early in his career.
Mensah also took official visits to UVa and Maryland, and besides the Cavaliers and the Terrapins, he is also listed with offers from Duke, Boston College, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
Here’s the full list of 2024 commits for Virginia Tech football (16 total):

What other positions are we looking for? Maybe another LB (Chris Cole?) and WR (Mekhai White?)? But where else?
Congrats Eric! You will love being a Hokie.
Welcome home Mr Mensah. Look forward to seeing you seeing you make your mark in as a Hokie.
Welcome Eric
Looking forward to seeing you have an outstanding stay in Blacksburg
Go Hokies! Note to editor- the count by position needs to be updated at DT.
Very nice! Go Hokies
That’s a Derrick Nnadi level lower body.
High IQ decision Mr Mensah
I see what you did there
He’s definitely in the upper percentile of verbals we’ve gotten this year.
Yeah, (wink, wink)
Mensah is a Real Man of Genius.
Welcome, Eric!
Go Hokies! I think he’ll be a good one.
