On Thursday, Virginia Tech and Brent Pry received a commitment from Green Run (VA) wide receiver Keylen Adams. One of the top wideouts on the Hokies’ board, the Virginia Beach native is the 15th commit in their 2024 class, the fifth from the Commonwealth of Virginia and the second wide receiver.

Adams, who officially visited Blacksburg on June 23, had Alabama, Ohio State, Pitt and South Carolina in his top-five schools. He had numerous offers, ranging from Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Miami, Maryland and Michigan to Ole Miss, NC State, North Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia and West Virginia.

He’s a unanimous four-star prospect by the recruiting services and a top-five player in Virginia:

He’s the first top-five player in Virginia to commit to the Hokies since 2019 (Jaden Payoute), and it’s the first time Tech’s had verbals from three top-10 players in the same class since 2017 (Devon Hunter, Dylan Rivers and TyJuan Garbutt). Adams is also the first top-five recruit from the 757 to commit to Virginia Tech since Devon Hunter in 2017.

With Adams in the fold, the Hokies have received verbals from three of the top-10 players in the Commonwealth, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings: Adams (3), Gerard Johnson (6 — DE, Virginia Beach) and Chanz Wiggins (9 — WR, King George). Tech’s two other in-state commits — Joshua Clarke (ATH, Oakton) and Noah Jenkins (S, Highland Springs) — are top-20 prospects.

Here’s the full list of 2024 commits for Virginia Tech football (15 total):

  1. Marvelous! Per the GobblerCountry.com last week, Coach Pry commented recently “I went in Michael Vick’s high school, and they hadn’t seen a Tech coach in six years,” Pry said. Curse you Fuente! So…This is what happens when your Coach and his Organization puts genuine organic effort into visiting your instate VIRGINIA schools like a committed military unit to leave a clear and present message that you are invested in VIRGINIA and you looking for a Few Good Men. Keep bringing em to Blacksburg coach. Really excited to see this hot streak. Great job Coaches. Competitive Hokie Football isn’t dead yet!

  2. Better win some games this season and hold on to this ‘24 recruiting class – great job by this coaching staff!

  3. It is good to see Pry & staff’s obvious efforts in the recruiting arena pay off. I am particularly excited because I think what we are seeing is fruits of the recruiting foundation they began year when there weren’t many visible results. TLDR: I think this is just the beginning and am optimistic for the seasons ahead.

  4. we;re probably a year or two away but I’m feeling better about things in Blacksburg such a stark difference from the previous staff

  5. Welcome to the Hokie family, Mr. Adams! You have made an excellent choice in joining the family. and you will love being a Hokie

  6. This is fantastic news. Welcome Home Keylen… you’ll look great in Maroon!

  7. Kaylen, thank you for trusting in the Hokie Nation. Your excellent decision will be rewarded by the Hokie fans that will scream their heads off for you and your teammates and by showing up!!

  8. Who is the QB that is throwing to him ? Nice touch on the deep balls and accuracy on the crossing routes.

  9. How is Pry pulling in guys with Bama, OSU, Clem, Mich etc offers!??? Promises of early PT?

    1. The team is short on talent so these kids look at early playing time more than going to ride the pine for the better part of three years at the likes of Ohio or Georgia As long as it a respectable P 5 school. Pry and company is showing that they can recruit. Now they have to develop and have a winning product to keep the talent and MONEY flowing.

  10. Now we gotta be patient because these recruits are still in high school and not too many play in their true freshman year. This player might do that. I think the coaching staff has earned lots of grace and goodwill and I hope the fans will remember that.

  11. THis is the most encouraged that I have felt about VT recruiting in a long time – maybe 2017. Good job coaches and staff!

  12. Pry’s recruiting class coming off a 3-8 year is downright stunning. Imagine the next few classes. Go Hokies!

  13. Welcome aboard, Keylen! You made a fantastic decision and we (Hokie Nation) look forward to your growth and development, both on and off the field. Welcome Home!

  14. Welcome home Mr Adams. Can’t wait to see you run through the tunnel. Go Hokies!

  15. Another piece of the puzzle in place. These commits obviously like what they see – and it’s not like they haven’t been exposed to many other places. Plus – they’ve also rubbed shoulders with a ton of other recruits. Go Hokies!!!

  16. Ok all of us who are now very happy with this class and Pry’s work need to Pony-Up!
Send in some money to fuel the train 🙂

  17. All aboard – the Hokie train is picking up speed and about to get rolling down the tracks!!!! Welcome to the Hokie Nation Mr. Adams!!

      1. To your credit you and TSL let us know it was coming baring a major surprise.
        Great job!
