Virginia Tech picked up a commitment from Collegiate School (Richmond, VA) athlete Krystian Williams on Monday afternoon. He is the 16th member of the 2023 recruiting class and the eight from the state of Virginia.

Williams plays wide receiver and defensive back for Collegiate School. He chose the Hokies over offers from UVA, Duke, Boston College, Wake Forest and Rutgers. He could conceivable play on either side of the ball for the Hokies, and if he plays defense, his likely position would be safety. Given that Tech could use another taller receiver in this class, it’s also possible that he could get his first look on offense.

In the rankings, Williams is No. 14 in the state by 247, No. 20 by On3, and No. 26 by Rivals.

Williams is the fourth player from the Richmond area to commit to the Hokies in this recruiting class as Brent Pry and his coaching staff continue to put an emphasis on that part of the state.

Here’s the full list of 2023 commits for Virginia Tech football (16 total):

QB: 1 – Dylan Wittke
WR: 1 – Marcell Baylor
OL: 4 – Layth Ghannam, Hannes Hammer, Gabriel Arena, Lance Williams
EDGE: 1 – Jason Abbey
LB: 3 – Tavorian Copeland, Aycen Stevens, Caleb Woodson
DB: 1 – Braylon Johnson, Thomas Williams
ATH: 4 – Dante Lovett, Takye Heath, Tralon Mitchell, Krystian Williams

  1. Love to see us getting kids out of Richmond! BTW, who is that QB?? He was making some nice throws!

  2. If several of these 3 star recruits from Virginia pan out, hopefully that encourages higher rated in-state players to commit down the road.

  3. Not only was this another gem from an important recruiting area, Krystian on both sides of the ball demonstrated and displayed great hands, speed to the ball, after the catch moves, solid tackling, and arrival with attitude. We thrived with players like this in the past and together with a staff that truly can effectively develop and place our athletes in their areas of strength, our program will be back.

I love what Coach Pry and team are doing and I know each of our commitments want to be part of this rebuild and be a Hokie, and that is a solid starting foundation.

Welcome Home Krystian! Do your part of bringing your best and more to the program as their is nothing better than being a Hokie.

And Coach, keep doing what your doing and know we are excited about supporting the rebuild of our foundation!

    Let’s GO!

  4. Love nabbing a Richmond area guy. We need more of that, assuming they are the right guys for VT of course. Only thing I don’t like is the list of schools he turned down. But that’s about where we are at today. Just a fact. Still optimistic that Pry and crew will be better evaluators and developers of talent. We shall see. Welcome to Blacksburg, Krystian!

  5. Good to see recruits coming back from the Richmond area. Pry and company know that is an important area to get back in play.
