Virginia Tech picked up a commitment from in-state wide receiver Takye Heath on Sunday evening. He is the eighth verbal commitment of the 2023 recruiting class, and the fourth from the state of Virginia.
Heath plays for Richmond-area powerhouse Highland Springs, where he is coached by former Virginia Tech cornerback Loren Johnson. He chose the Hokies over Boston College, Duke, Louisville, Maryland, Pitt, Virginia and West Virginia. He is projected to play in the slot for the Hokies.
Heath is ranked as the No. 22 player in the state by 247Sports, and the No. 30 player in Virginia by On3. He is rated 3-stars by all major recruiting services.
He is the second Richmond-area commitment of the 2023 class, joining Freeman defensive end Jason Abbey.
