Virginia Tech basketball had a good day on Sunday when DeMatha Catholic wing Rodney Rice made his verbal commitment to the Hokies. He is the third commitment of the 2022 recruiting class, and he is expected to sign with Tech in November.

Rice was coached at DeMatha by new Virginia Tech Associate Head Coach Mike Jones, and he is expected to be the crown jewel of the Hokies’ 2022 recruiting class. Louisville was his other finalist, and he had many other P5 offers including Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, UConn, Maryland, and others.

What I love is that he doesn’t stare down his defender or woof at him after a play. He just turns around and heads down court.

Love this commit. He will excel in Mike Young’s offense. A 7 footer and another guard already in the boat. One power or small forward and this class will be awesome.
on offense he is a triple threat.. pass, shoot, drive
great court vision and can find the open man when he draws help D
changes speed with a suddenness that helps create separation. that should also help him stay in front of the ball on defense.
