Offensive Line, Class of 2022
Azle High School, Azle, TX
6-5, 285

Virginia Tech picked up a commitment from 2022 offensive tackle Jakson LaHue on Thursday afternoon.  He is the seventh commitment of the 2022 recruiting class, and the third offensive lineman.

LaHue plays for Azle High School in Azle, TX, which is just west of Dallas/Fort Worth.  The Hokies were his first scholarship offer from a Power 5 program.  Highly intelligent, LaHue has five offers from Ivy League schools and is considering majoring in engineering in college.

LaHue visited Blacksburg last weekend, and it didn’t take him long to make his verbal commitment.

  1. Great footwork. Plays a little high but can get away with against smaller high school competition.

    1. Was gonna say the same about footwork, very good and he is athletic for a lineman. We are going to have to work with him how to use his hands more, he won’t be able to plow over college d linemen.

    1. You could say that about every student entering engineering. It’s a tough major. I’m thankful our engineering programs are good ones.

    2. Our last one didn’t have half dozen Ivy League offers🤣. He was from south side of Chicago

  2. Definitely excited to see him choose VT!

No other P5s as a 3-star OL. Is it still too early in the process that he doesn’t have more?

Is it likely he’ll get more P5 offers? Possible he may leave once he gets more attention?

Not overly concerned, just want to put this “commitment” into perspective. Was on an official at VT so that’s definitely a positive sign. While I’m sure Beau D was involved in identifying the TX recruit, it’s not as clear cut as having a family member or legacy that has often been the glue in the past for players a little further from VT (ex: Dalton Keene).

    1. He’s getting a Power 5 Football opportunity and a top flight engineering school. The combination is the draw here and folks that can match those things would be the only threats

    2. You forgot the aerospace engineering part….not many schools can rival our program anywhere…I am thankful for folks like him committing
