Georgia PG Tyrie Jackson Signs With Virginia Tech

Tift County (Tifton, GA) point guard Tyrie Jackson has signed with Virginia Tech, multiple sources are reporting. The 6’1″ senior becomes the third member of Tech’s class of 2016, joining junior college forward Seth LeDay and Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA) center Khadim Sy.

As a sophomore in 2013/2014, Jackson was part of a Tift County squad that went 29-3 and captured a state championship. He then helped the Blue Devils to a 27-2 record in 2014/2015 and a 26-3 record in 2015/2016. Jackson averaged 15.7 points per game as a junior, earning honorable mention all-state honors that season, before averaging 16.1 points per contest this past season as a senior.

Jackson earned Region 1-AAAAAA Player of the Year honors as a senior, when he made 49-percent of his field goals, including 43-percent from 3-point range (per MaxPreps). He added 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game.

Jackson will join his brother, Tadric, in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Tadric is a rising junior shooting guard for Georgia Tech.
