Defensive End, Class of 2022
Highland Springs, Highland Springs, VA
Highland Springs (Va.) 2022 three-star defensive end Rashaud Pernell now counts 16 scholarship offers from college football programs. He’s already whittled that list of possibilities to seven.
On Jan. 5, Pernell released a top seven of Virginia Tech, Virginia, Wake Forest, Minnesota, Costal Carolina, Liberty and Howard. He’s only seen two of those schools because of the ongoing pandemic, but the move at least has helped narrow Pernell’s focus with his abbreviated junior season coming.
“I mean, I dropped a top seven and those are the schools that have showed the most love and I can see myself playing at,” Pernell said. “It’s always subject to change, because I make the decision for four years, not just one. I’ve just got to see. I just dropped that top seven to get that out of the way. I’m focusing on the season, but when it’s over, I’ll get with my family and talk about a timetable.”
The Hokies offered Pernell last May, and while he’s kept up with the coaching staff, his inability to make an in-person visit due to the pandemic has hampered the knowledge he has about Virginia Tech.
