ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips Remains Optimistic, Though Fractures Might Be Irreparable

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. — Those expecting the remnants of closed-door pyrotechnics to carry over into the hallway at the ACC’s spring meetings at The Ritz-Carlton this week left disappointed.

Unlike last year, when news broke on the eve of the event that seven schools were actively examining the validity of the ACC’s grant of rights, possibly to seek a path out of the conference, this year’s event was largely cordial.

That doesn’t mean things are hunky dory.

While both sides played nice in public, outside of the occasional passive-aggressive comment, the league remains fractious.
