Virginia Tech got a starting point guard from the transfer portal on Wednesday night. The commitment of Hysier Miller leaves Mike Young with three remaining scholarships. Today, we’ll talk about Miller and touch on what else Tech needs.

The Hokies currently have a two-deep, sort of, with 10 scholarship players. However, things are a bit unbalanced with three of them being centers.

1: Hysier Miller (Sr.), Brandon Rechsteiner (So.)
2: Jordan Ivy-Curry (Sr.), Jaydon Young (So.)
3: Rodney Brown Jr. (So.), Jaydon Young (So.)
4: Ben Burnham (Sr.), Tyler Johnson (Fr.)
5: Mylyjael Poteat (Sr.), Patrick Wessler (r-So.), Ryan Jones (Fr.)

I’m not sure that Brown would start over Young if the season started tomorrow because of Young’s familiarity with the system, but I listed Brown first because I think he’s more of a natural small forward. Right now, I’ve got Johnson as a four, but I’m not sure if Mike Young has any plans to work him at the three. I know that Virginia Tech badly wants to sign another wing, which makes sense when you consider that I’ve got Jaydon Young listed at two spots on the depth chart.
