As an early enrollee at a position lacking depth, Hokies safety Mose Phillips figured to get a taste of action as a true freshman last year as part of the two-deep.
He probably didn’t figure that because of injuries he’d play in all 13 games and start twice, getting among the most significant action of players from Tech’s 2023 signing class.
The result, as you’d expect for a youngster thrust into action, was a season of ups and downs, with Phillips adjusting to not only the speed and physicality of the college game but the mental strain, enduring all the travel not common in high school and learning a weekly-adjusted game plan.
“Last year was about trying to get my foot in the door, show people that I can learn it,” Phillips said. “Now it’s about perfecting it and mastering it.”
