There are currently seven scholarship offers on the table for Crest (NC) three-star safety D’Various Surratt. But based on his play and how he felt about football just a couple of years ago, that’s a surprise.

“It’s still early for me,” Surratt said. “I’m still trying to learn some things and stuff like that. For me, this is all unexpected. In middle school, I didn’t have the best experience, but friends and coaches convinced me to play early in high school. I’ve started since I was a freshman, so it’s been good. I love it now. Especially since last year, the team had a good year, and me as an individual.”

The offers for Surratt include Tennessee, Arkansas and most recently Virginia Tech on March 25. There are visits coming and more opportunities for Surratt to build his profile further.
