After Knee Injury, Tight End Nick Gallo Gives Senior Season A Second Shot

It’s a short drive, maybe an hour with traffic, to Rutgers from Nick Gallo’s home in Richboro, Pennsylvania, so the injured Hokies tight end decided that would be a good time to drop in on the team last September.

After being away from Blacksburg for a month following season-ending surgery on his injured right knee, getting to be with his teammates again sure was nice.

“I was isolated for a little bit,” Gallo said Tuesday. “Just being around the guys was honestly really uplifting. As the season went on, I was kind of itching to get back out there.”

Gallo tapped into those feelings when ultimately deciding to come back for the 2024 season, his sixth in college football. He and defensive tackle Josh Fuga are the only two members of the 2019 signing class still on the team.
