1) How much do you think Mike Young views next year as a “win now” season? Or does he plan his resources to try to make a run in 2025-26? – GretnaHokie

Chris Coleman: I tend to agree with GCHokie34’s post, which you can read here. For me, the plan depends on who stays and who leaves. We know Hunter Cattoor, Robbie Beran and Mekhi Long will be gone. The following key contributors have the option to return next year:

• C Lynn Kidd
• C Mylyjael Poteat
• G MJ Collins
• G/F Tyler Nickel
• G Sean Pedulla

If all five of those players return, Virginia Tech would have a solid nucleus to build around. Kidd, Poteat and Pedulla would be seniors, with Collins and Nickel juniors, and you’ve also got possible improvement from Brandon Rechsteiner and Jaydon Young. We don’t know how much those guys will be ready to play next season, but they will be in the mix. We also know that, at an absolute minimum, the Hokies will need to address the power forward position in the transfer portal.
