GREENSBORO, N.C. — No. 11 Virginia Tech will face Miami in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET (ACC Network).

The No. 9 seed Hurricanes (19-11) beat No. 8 seed North Carolina (19-12) by one, 60-59, on Thursday afternoon in a game that came down to the final possession. The No. 1 seed Hokies (23-6) will now face Miami for the second time this season, who they beat by 24 in Cassell Coliseum on Jan. 11.

The difference this time around is it’s unlikely three-time ACC Player of the Year Elizabeth Kitley plays. The All-American center suffered an apparent knee injury in Tech’s loss on Sunday at Virginia and was not at practice on Thursday morning, though she was with the team later as it witnessed Miami’s victory.

Hokies head coach Kenny Brooks did not have an update to provide to the media in the latest availability on Monday afternoon. The lone note on Kitley’s status came from her appearance on ACC PM on the ACC Network on Tuesday after she won her third consecutive ACC Player of the Year honor, one of three women to ever do so.
