RALEIGH, N.C. — No. 16 Virginia Tech women’s basketball won its sixth consecutive game of the season on Thursday at No. 3 NC State, 72-61, and swept the Wolfpack for the second straight season.

Tech’s now won the last four games in the series; before last year, it was 2-26 all-time against NC State.

The Hokies put on a clinic in Reynolds Coliseum in the latest meeting and were dominant on the defensive end and the glass. Here are three takeaways:

1. Defense ran the show again.

For the fourth outing in a row, a stretch that featured one home game (Virginia) and three top-25 road tests (Syracuse, North Carolina, NC State), Virginia Tech held its opponent below 37 percent from the floor. The consistency has been there lately after some ups and downs early in the year.
