With No. 3 NC State’s 77-67 victory on Monday night over No. 15 Louisville, the No. 16 Hokies stand alone at the top of the ACC standings with seven regular-season games remaining.

The ACC has eight teams that are fewer than three games behind Virginia Tech (18-4, 9-2). Five of those squads feature in the latest AP Top 25 while the other three received votes:

  • 3 NC State (11 in NET rankings)
  • 12 Notre Dame (8)
  • 15 Louisville (20)
  • 16 Virginia Tech (18)
  • 23 Syracuse (40)
  • RV North Carolina (29)
  • RV Florida State (43)
  • RV Duke (23)

In early February, there’s so much basketball left to be played that the metrics will fluctuate. The Hokies are in a great position, however, as is the league. There are 11 ACC squads in the top 75 of the NET — the aforementioned eight, plus Miami (36), Virginia (68) and Georgia Tech (72).
