Scouting Report: Kelvin Gilliam

Highland Springs grad Kelvin Gilliam is returning to the Commonwealth, and he’s looking to help shore up a defensive tackle group that was wiped out by graduation. Gilliam was a hyped member of the ‘21 recruiting class, but things didn’t pan out for him in his three years at Oklahoma. He looked to be getting some traction after a redshirt year, but when last year rolled around his snaps were halved from 99 to 47. In those 47 snaps, PFF credits him with one pressure and zero tackles. Injuries were a factor in each of his three years at OU, and he had at least one surgery on his shoulder.

That’s not to say he was blown off the field, though. This is a pretty typical snap for Gilliam:

That’s some good strength to anchor down against two guys and keep the linebackers clean. It’s not easy, especially since he has to cross the center’s face on his way to the blockers.
