Chris Coleman: Yes, that’s a peak offseason question if I’ve ever seen one, but I’m down.
For me, an ideal schedule would be balanced with FBS schools only. That goes not only for Virginia Tech, but for everybody. In my fantasy, conferences would be smaller, which would allow for balanced scheduling. Nine-team conferences for an eight-game conference schedule, or 11-team conferences for a 10-game schedule. It makes no difference to me. Of course, that’s as likely to happen as me being the first person to land on Mars.
But since the offseason is the time to dabble in fantasyland, let’s assume that I’m a future Martian and that college football is split up into smaller, regional conferences where everyone got to play their rivals as God himself intended. That being said, I’m not going to harbor any fantasies of Virginia Tech being in the same league as Penn State, Florida, Georgia, etc., but I am going to construct some regional boundaries.
