On Dec. 18, defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles decided on his new home when he announced he planned to transfer from Duke to Virginia Tech. But he wasn’t quite done with the Blue Devils.

Last Saturday, Peebles decided to still play for Duke in its 17-10 win over Troy in the Birmingham Bowl. That decision didn’t change his intention. He’s still a Hokie, but the game gave Peebles the chance to feel like he concluded his Blue Devils career on his terms.

“I didn’t feel like the job was finished,” he said. “You play seasons and years and your goal is to win a championship, whether its national championship, the Rose Bowl, the College Football Playoff. Your goal after a season is to play for a championship. I felt like I owed that to myself and my teammates to finish strong with the guys I grinded with.”
