Bitter: After Resounding Military Bowl Win, Hokies Fans Can Dare To Dream About 2024

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Wet, weathered and water-logged, the Hokies capped off a turning-point season Wednesday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, getting its rushing attack ramped up and forcing timely turnovers on defense in a torrential downpour to beat No. 23 Tulane 41-20 in the Military Bowl.

The best part for Virginia Tech fans wasn’t the win, though. It’s about how much they can start dreaming about next season.

If you thought the Hokies’ first bowl win since 2016 was an exciting way to finish the year, putting a bow on a four-win improvement from 2022 and signaling that Brent Pry and his staff have Tech moving in the right direction after some nervous moments in September, consider this more appealing thought.

Almost everyone’s back, including but especially quarterback and team MVP Kyron Drones. Tech’s already had portal additions at key spots, with more players likely coming. And while it’s early and plenty has to shake out roster-wise, the 2024 schedule looks extremely manageable.
