Virginia Tech football’s 2024 recruiting class is signed, sealed and delivered. Unless the Hokies decide to add a high school or JUCO guy in February, the class as it stands today is complete. The coaching staff will still work the transfer portal of course, but traditional recruiting will now switch to the 2025 class.

The Hokies signed only 16 players — 15 high school prospects and one JUCO recruit — which isn’t surprising considering they signed such a large class (26 players) at this time last year. Throw in the transfer portal guys that Tech added over the course of the last 12 months and this was always set up to be a small recruiting class.

There aren’t quite as many things to discuss this year because the class is so small, but I did want to talk about a few points that stand out to me. One of them is an individual and one of them is a trend.

My No. 1: Emmett Laws

I’m not sharing anything new by saying that Emmett Laws is my No. 1 recruit for the 2024 class. I like a number of players in this group, which at of the time of this writing ranks No. 4 in the ACC in terms of average star ranking. The funny thing is that Laws drags that star ranking down.
