PISCATAWAY, N.J. — No. 16 Virginia Tech won its third straight game on Sunday, beating Rutgers handily, 84-59, at Jersey Mike’s Arena.
The Hokies are 8-2 through 10 non-conference games with one challenge left: vs. William & Mary on Thursday (2 p.m. ET, ACC Network Extra).
Here are three takeaways from Tech’s win over the Scarlet Knights:
1. Kenny Brooks winning his 500th career game highlights how great of a coach he really is.
Brooks’ first game as a collegiate head coach was Dec. 7, 2002, in Cassell Coliseum. Then the interim head coach at James Madison, he led the Dukes against Virginia Tech, a game they lost by four in overtime, 77-73.
