Three Takeaways From Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball’s Loss At LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. — No. 9 Virginia Tech lost to No. 7 LSU by 18 on Thursday night in The Boot. Georgia Amoore led the way with 24 points while Elizabeth Kitley had a 16-point double-double, but contributions for the Hokies (5-2) were scarce outside of those two.

Here are three takeaways from Tech’s loss to the Tigers:

1. In some ways, the loss to LSU put in perspective how special last year’s team was.

It’s not that Virginia Tech can’t win another ACC Tournament, be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and make a Final Four run. But there’s a reason why the 2022-23 team was the first to do it — it’s not easy and takes a special group.

That showed a little bit on Thursday night in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. Tech lost by more to LSU in the ACC/SEC Challenge (18) than it did in the Final Four in March (7).
