Three Takeaways From The Hokies’ Loss At Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. — The Hokies were outmatched in their 74-57 loss to Auburn on Wednesday night in Neville Arena. Though it was just a 17-point defeat, the game felt more lopsided.

Virginia Tech returns to Blacksburg and hosts Louisville on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET (ACC Network) in the ACC opener.

Here are three takeaways from the Hokies’ loss:

1. This team does not match up well with length and athleticism.

More than any of Mike Young’s other teams in Blacksburg, this one struggles against long, athletic teams. Maybe it was Justyn Mutts or Keve Aluma that hid those deficiencies for the previous groups, but Tech looked like a lost puppy at times on Thursday night at Auburn.
