Three Takeaways From Virginia Tech’s Win Over Iowa State

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Virginia Tech beat Iowa State by nine, 71-62, on Friday evening in the semifinals of the ESPN Events Invitational. The Hokies will play No. 19 Florida Atlantic in the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Here are three takeaways from Tech’s win over the Cyclones:

1. Sean Pedulla continues to do Sean Pedulla things.

Pedulla dribbled the ball over the baseline in front of the Tech bench with 5:26 remaining in Friday’s game vs. Iowa State, an action followed by Mike Young immediately sending Brandon Rechsteiner to the scorer’s table.

It was one of Pedulla’s five turnovers, and in a tight battle — the Hokies led by five at the time, 56-51 — it could’ve swung momentum the other way.
