KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Virginia Tech handled Boise State on Thursday night at Disney World, showing a ton of fight after getting off to a slow start. The Hokies gutted out an 82-75 win and face Iowa State on Friday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
Here are three takeaways from Tech’s win over the Broncos:
1. Lynn Kidd has really come a long way.
The same kid that averaged just five points and 13 minutes last season is averaging 18 points and 24 minutes this year. Think about that for a second.
At 6-10, 235, Lynn Kidd has been fantastic this year for Virginia Tech. He’s shooting an incredible 78 percent from the floor (32-of-41), a mark that ranks 11th in the country among players who have played a minimum of 60 percent of their team’s minutes. He’s also third in the nation in true shooting percentage (81.2%), according to Ken Pomeroy, which takes free throws into account.
